Phonological sensation begins surpassing your kids plane start school, and it’s a skill they will use later in elementary grade levels and beyond. Developing rhyming skills in pre-k and kindergarten will help them develop phonological sensation and set a strong foundation for other phonics skills that build a strong foundation for reading.

Rhyme Prune Cards Printable Phonological Sensation Activity
This set of Rhyme Prune Cards is designed for your little ones to work on phonological awareness. As such, there are no written letters/words on these cards. In this activity, we want children to focus on the auditory aspects of the rhyming words.
If your students have a strong foundation in phonological sensation and are ready to uncork increasingly phonics-based instruction, we recommend using our phonics dominoes activity.
In this rhyme prune cards activity, students will practice saying one focus word and then segregate between three options to pick the word that rhymes with the focus word.
GETTING STARTED
Print out the prune cards. If you are going to make multiple sets, you may want to print them on colored paper or put a stamp/sticker on the pieces of the set to stave mixing them up.
Laminate for extended use.
Cut prune vellum pieces untied individually. Surpassing introducing this worriedness to students, use the word list/answer key to get familiar with the words used for each picture.
HOW TO PLAY
Your kids will start by choosing one of the prune cards and saying the focus word.
Choose between the three options and pick the word that weightier rhymes with the focus word.
This worriedness can be washed-up in small groups as part of skill practice or in literacy centers for self-sustaining practice.
Choose between using clothespins, play dough, or manipulatives like-colored dots, mini erasers, etc., for kids to use as they imbricate the word that rhymes with the focus word.
For spare fine motor practice and sensory exploration, you can use manipulatives such as pom poms, clips, and playdough for a increasingly hands-on learning activity.
